LHPS 2022 ANZAC Day Ceremony

We stand here this morning on Bundjalung land. We acknowledge the traditional owners and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay respect to the Elders, past, present and emerging.

Welcome special guests and members of the Ballina RSL sub-branch; Barry Nash, Merv Stevens and Ben Haime. Welcome teachers, staff and students. Today, we gather to remember those who have served to defend Australia. We remember, honour and express our gratitude to those who fought to protect our beautiful land. We are thankful that we live in this free and peaceful country and hope for continued peace – peace in our world, peace in our country, our communities, our school community, in our families and in our hearts.

The Ode of Remembrance has been recited to commemorate wartime service and sacrifice since 1921. The Ode is the 4th stanza of the poem For the Fallen by Laurence Binyon. The SRC has adjusted this poem slightly and has made a video to share with you.
